Seeking Nominations for the Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame

The Juneau Economic Development Council (JEDC) is pleased to join the Alaska State Committee for Research (SCoR) in encouraging nominations for the Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame.

The Alaska State Committee for Research (SCoR) created the Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame in 2014 to celebrate and honor outstanding individuals who put Alaska on the map as leaders in innovation and to contribute to Alaska鈥檚 growing culture of innovation. The University of Alaska is committed to establishing equal educational opportunity and encourage nominations of minority and underrepresented individuals.

SCoR invites interested persons to nominate outstanding innovators to be inducted into the Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame. Nominees who are selected by SCoR will be members of the 2026 class and will be inducted at JEDC鈥檚 Innovation Summit held in Juneau on February 25-26,2026.

Nominations must be submitted no later than December 31, 2025. Nominees must have been an Alaska resident for at least one year or have made a significant demonstration of the innovation鈥檚 links to Alaska or have conducted research work in Alaska.

1. Nominees should have demonstrated innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions or lifetime achievements that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, the environment, the welfare of the people of Alaska and/or a global impact.
 
2. A nominee must have been an Alaskan resident for at least one year, or have made a significant demonstration of the innovation鈥檚 links to Alaska or have conducted research work in Alaska.

Nomination Process

A nominator will be able to nominate a person/people for election to the SCoR Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame in one of three ways by the deadline:

  1. Complete an Online
  2. Or - the Nomination packets can be submitted via email to sldayton2@alaska.edu, with subject line "2026 Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame Nomination Packet for [nominee's name]" 
  3. Or - In a single packet by mail to SCoR Alaska Innovators Hall of Fame Nomination Committee, c/o University of Alaska Vice President for Academics, Students & Research, P.O. Box 755000, Fairbanks, AK 99775-5000. 

Nomination Packets will need to include the following:

  • Personal letter of nomination that describes the nominee鈥檚 innovation and its  impact, using illustrations and photos as appropriate.
  • Nominee鈥檚 contact information
  • Resume or CV may be included, but not required
  • List of references or community support
  • Evidence of the nominee鈥檚 or their invention's impact
  • Supporting letters, which may be written by individuals in addition to the nominator
